• Refugee Blues is a poem written by W.H. Auden. The poem describes the difficulty of Jewish people who were forced to flee their homes during the holocaust it seems and the adversities that are faced vs the freedom others are allowed to have during this period. The poem’s speaker is a refugee who seems to be saying all the advantages in the life of people who are not Jewish while repeating a statement at the end of every stanza surrounded by the fact that Jews are not able to do the same or have the advantage that others are having. Because of this repetition, it reflects the main idea of the poem in a strong way making it very moving and easier to understand as the reader.
