While driving and walking through Brighton Beach, it felt like we were not in the US anymore. Every store was Russian, with not only Russian products, but there were also people who really only spoke in Russian. The writing on almost all of the stores was in Russian and the people in the stores would only speak to you in Russian. It was really interesting walking through a place where the community was so Russian that it almost felt like you were in a different country. During our time at Brighton Beach, we also visited this Russian restaurant, namely Tatiana Grill. There we ate a lot of different Russian foods, and some meals did surprise me. I did not know that chicken kebabs with rice were a traditional Russian dish. The food that surprised me the most though was the dumpling like dessert. I had never tried or honestly seen anything like it before. During our field trip to Brighton Beach I had the chance to immerse myself into a piece of Russian culture.
