The country Myanmar is located in southeast Asia. Myanmar was under British rule from 1824 to 1948. At that time it was called Burma, however when it went under military power, the name changed to Myanmar. Since then Myanmar has had a lot of problems because the military is fighting its own people. When Myanmar was free from British colonization, the country’s borders were not given much thought. Because of this there are a variety of different ethnic groups in Myanmar. This has led to  persecution against different ethnic groups, and it has resulted in burning down villages and the genocide of groups of people. This is a large problem however there is not much being done to stop it. There are people who are trying to raise awareness for this country and its people, and there have been some steps by the UN such as the 5 point consensus. However Myanmar is going through a large crisis, and it is important that people from all over the world come together to help the citizens of Myanmar.
