{"id":930,"date":"2017-12-24T19:13:49","date_gmt":"2017-12-24T19:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.pingry.org\/record\/?p=930"},"modified":"2018-07-24T19:27:10","modified_gmt":"2018-07-24T19:27:10","slug":"girls-swimming-mid-season-update-2017-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.pingry.org\/record\/2017\/12\/24\/girls-swimming-mid-season-update-2017-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Girls&#8217; Swimming Mid-Season Update 2017\/18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By Martha Lewand (IV)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The girls\u2019 swim team, led by Head Coach Deidre O\u2019Mara and captains Kassidy Peterson (VI)\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and Naiyah Atulomah (VI), is headed in a promising direction this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When asked about this season\u2019s goals, Mrs. O\u2019Mara said, \u201cI would love for us to win the Prep\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Championship again this year and have all of our swimmers in the top 12 for every event.\u201d She\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">also added that they would like to have a final record of 7-5 within the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After an amazing season last year guided by first-year coach Mrs. O\u2019Mara and five senior\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">captains, the future of the team looks to carry that success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are excited to have a lot of returning talent this year and skilled incoming freshmen,\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Atulomah noted. \u201cOur team has a lot of depth that will definitely lead to improvements later on\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in the season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The team had amazing success at their first two home meets, winning 112-58 and 102-68 against Watchung Hills and Hunterdon Central respectively. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur swimmers are excited and ready to take on this new season and thrive,\u201d Autlomah added.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are looking forward to bonding and pushing our limits as a team.
